Rolling Out A New Era Of High School Bowling Champions

WHAT:
Three major bowling powerhouses - Denny's, the first title sponsor of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour, the PBA and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) will announce their alliance to launch the first national high school bowling competition. The new high school tournament will coincide with the Denny's PBA World Championship set for March 24 and 25, 2007, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

WHY:
Denny's, the PBA and the USBC are joining together in an unprecedented partnership to bring recognition and prominence to the most talented young bowlers in the country and to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to bowling at the high school and collegiate levels.

* Bowling is recognized as one of the nation's fastest growing high school varsity sports.
* Currently, 16 states have both male and female varsity bowling programs; two have programs for females only and one has an adaptive program for those with physical and mental challenges. An additional 26 states have club level programs.
* Bowling is a lifetime sport with no age or gender barriers.
* The sport of bowling offers a healthy, safe and controlled environment for student-athletes to compete.
