WIBC Member Emerita Beatrice Lane Dies At Age 88

Michigan woman was WIBC Board member for 20 years

GREENDALE, Wis. -- Women's International Bowling Congress Member Emerita Beatrice Lane of Flint, Mich., died Oct. 16 at age 88.

Lane, who was elected WIBC Member Emerita in 1992, was appointed to the WIBC Board of Directors by past President Alberta E. Crowe in 1972. She was elected to a three-year term in 1975 and re-elected 1978, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1990.

Lane was a member of the WIBC 75th Anniversary and Hall of Fame Selection committees.

She served as president and secretary-treasurer of the Michigan State Bowling Council; president, first vice president, second vice president, secretary and secretary-treasurer of the Michigan WBA; president and vice president of the Lansing (Mich.) WBA; and director of the Houghton Lake WBA.

For her years of dedicated service, Lane was inducted into the Michigan WBA, the Houghton Lake WBA and the Lansing WBA halls of fame. The Michigan WBA also named Lane a life member.

Memorial services will be held on Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fenton, 503 S. Leroy Street, Fenton, MI 48430.

United States Bowling Congress
The United States Bowling Congress, as the national governing body, ensures the integrity and protects the future of the sport, provides programs and services and enhances the bowling experience.

USBC officially launched Jan. 1, 2005, as an organization serving nearly three million adult and youth bowlers in the United States. It resulted from the merger of the American Bowling Congress, Women's International Bowling Congress, Young American Bowling Alliance and USA Bowling.
