The Billiard & Bowling Institute of America announced today that the Bowling Proprietor's Association of America would assume management of the 66-year-old trade association effective January 1, 2007.
"In our efforts to grow this tradition-rich association of billiard and bowling industry leaders, and at the same time control costs, the BBIA has found a perfect fit in BPAA," said BBIA President Hank Hayes of Iwan Simonis, Inc. "With its vast administrative expertise and its natural ties to both bowling and billiards, BPAA is uniquely qualified to provide management services to BBIA. We're confident they're going to do a fine job."
"We are excited at the opportunities and synergies presented by this new arrangement," added BPAA Executive Director John Berglund, "and we look forward to helping BBIA grow and its members prosper."
BPAA succeeds Association Management & Communications, which had served as BBIA's management provider since 2001.
"[AMC president] Alison Pruitt did a terrific job as BBIA's Executive Director during challenging times for both industries," said Hayes. "We all appreciate Alison's hard work and professionalism over the past five years."
Among its responsibilities as BBIA's management provider, BPAA will spearhead member recruitment and retention, as well as produce the annual BBIA Convention. BPAA's Bill Supper will serve as administrator.
Chartered in 1940, the BBIA is a trade association comprised of the leading manufacturers, suppliers and dealers of both billiard and bowling products and services.
